In an appeal to the Ghanaian youth, a USA-based chief emphasised that they are the country’s greatest asset. Dema Naa, Basha Iddrisu Ibrahim, urged young people not to allow politicians to exploit them for personal gain during the upcoming December 7 elections. His message comes at a crucial time when political tensions often rise and young people find themselves caught in the middle. He said they should not allow themselves to be used by politicians to constitute nuisance and unrest in the country before, during and after the election.
The chief highlighted the incredible potential of the Ghanaian youth. He pointed out that their energy and creativity can drive change and innovation in Ghana. However, he warned that if young people remain passive or uninformed, politicians may misuse them for selfish agendas. Therefore, he called for youth empowerment and encouraged the youth to stay vigilant against manipulation.
Moreover, Dema Naa encouraged the Ghanaian youth to engage in discussions about their rights and responsibilities. He emphasized that demanding accountability from leaders is essential. Civic engagement is both a right and a duty, he said. Understanding the political process helps young people hold elected officials accountable for their promises.
The chief also warned about the risks of exploitation. He urged young people to be cautious of appealing political rhetoric that might mislead them. Therefore, they must be informed and proactive in their decision-making. This ensures their choices align with their values and interests.
Furthermore, Dema Naa supported the recent call for the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure transparency and fairness during the elections. He stressed that a transparent electoral process is crucial for maintaining the trust of the populace. Such actions will promote peace during and after the elections, allowing the nation to progress without unrest.
The chief’s message serves as a clarion call for Ghanaian youth. They must recognize their intrinsic value and work collectively towards building a brighter and more equitable future for themselves and their country.
