The Minister for the Interior, following the advice of the North East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has announced a curfew on Walewale and its environs in the North East Region.
The curfew will be in effect from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, starting Saturday, February 15, 2025. In light of the current challenges facing the community, the government is calling on Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and the residents of the area to exercise restraint.
Authorities emphasize the importance of using non-violent means to address grievances and work towards maintaining peace in the region. This decision aims to ensure the safety and security of citizens during this critical time.
